The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced the result of class 12 Result on 12th May 2023. After two hours on the same day, the board declared the CBSE Class 10 Result on 12th May 2023.
As the results are out, students were happy to see their results. But, few of them found that the marks obtained them were not as per their expectation. Whatever they have performed in the examination, they have not secured that many marks. So, students of class 10 and class 12 who are not satisfied with their scores can apply for re-evaluation on the official website of CBSE.
The board has released a notice issuing the complete detail of the CBSE Revaluation process for class 10 and class 12 on 12th May 2023. Go through this article to know the entire revaluation process in 2023.

Verification of Marks
For CBSE Class 10 Students:

- The schedule is given in Annexure – I (given above). Processing charges are Rs. 500 for classes 10 and 12.
- Students will be communicated the outcome of the verification of marks will be communicated in the same login account of the candidate form where she/he has applied for verification in the following manner.
- The outcome of the verification of marks will be uploaded on the official to the login account of the candidate on the CBSE website. No individual communication will be sent in this regard.
- In the case of a change in marks, the first communication the marks have been changed (increase/decrease in marks will be provided/hosted.
- Thereafter, once the result is re-calculated, the actual increase or actual decrease of marks will also be provided/hosted.
- The applicants are advised to visit CBSE’s website for the status of the verification request.
- Only those students who will apply for verification of marks online will be eligible to apply for obtaining photocopy of the answer book(s) in that/those subject(s).
Steps to apply for verification of marks :
- Visit the official website of CBSE – https://cbseit.in/cbse/web/rchk/reeval.aspx | cbse.gov.in
- Click on “Apply for Verification”.
- Fill your details and then submit.
- Pay the application fee.
- Do note down the application number or the reference number for further use.
Application for Obtaining a Photocopy of the Evaluated Answer Sheet
For CBSE Class 10 Students:

- Only those candidates who have applied for verification of Marks Online in the manner as prescribed above will be eligible to apply for obtaining a photocopy of the evaluated answer book(s).
- Applications will be rejected if it is submitted on behalf of the candidate and also incomplete application and fees deposited shall be forfeited without any further reference.
- Applicants will be provided a scanned copy of the Answer Book in their login account after blocking all information relating to the identity of the Examiner/Evaluator/any other official associated with the examination process, etc.
- If any candidate wants to challenge the marks awarded to any question, then he/she can apply online as per the schedule for re-evaluation of marks.
Steps to apply for Photocopy of Answer Sheets
- Visit the official site of CBSE
- Click on “apply for answer book “ then click on “apply online”.
- Now fill the details and follow the instructions.
- Then you will be redirected to “generate undertaking ” page and follow the instructions.
- Then you have to upload some documents, upload the required documents and you will be redirected to the payment page.
- Pay the fees and write down the reference number and the application number.
Re-Evaluation of Evaluated Answer Book(s)
For CBSE Class 10 Students:

- Only those candidates who have applied for obtaining photocopy of the evaluated answer book shall be eligible to apply for re-evaluation or challenge the marks awarded to any question(s).
- Request for re-evaluation/challenges shall be accepted only for the theory portion @ Rs 100/- per question.
- The applicant will have to refer to the marking scheme in the subject concerned which would be available on the website along with the question paper. Thereafter, candidates can submit an application for re-evaluation in the required question(s) with reasoning.
- Status of re-evaluation shall be uploaded on the website followed by a formal communication from the Regional Office.
- Decrease even by one mark shall be affected.
- Result of the re-evaluation will be final and no appeal or review against the re-evaluation would be entertained.
In the case of all the above three activities i.e. I, II, and III, the decision of the Board on the marks awarded shall be final and binding on the candidates.
Steps to apply for revaluation:
- Visit the official site of CBSE.
- Now click on “apply for revaluation”.
- Then click on apply online and fill all the details, after filling the details click on proceed next.
- Then you will be redirected to “generate undertaking ” page and follow the instructions.
- Upload the required documents and you will be redirected to the payment page.
- Pay the fees and write down the reference number and the application number.
Alternate Method of Getting Photocopy of Answer Sheet
Photocopy of the Answer Book(s) under RTI-Act 2005 will be provided as per provisions of RTI Act, 2005. However, a request for verification and/or re-evaluation cannot be made under RTI Act and shall not be entertained.
Difference Between CBSE Revaluation and Rechecking
Most of the time students get confused between the revaluation and rechecking process. So, to give them a clear understanding, we have listed core differences between the CBSE Revaluation and CBSE Rechecking.
CBSE Rechecking
Rechecking is the process when only the re-calculation of the marks is done. Students apply for the rechecking process when they are not satisfied with their marks and feel that there is some calculation mistake done by the examiner during the evaluation process. For those who apply for rechecking, sometimes their marks are deducted and sometimes marks increased. Those students whose marks are increased, they receive a mistake letter by CBSE.
- CBSE introduced the rechecking process long back
- Rechecking is the re-calculation of marks only.
- Examiners can check the marks given by the previous examiner. He/She checks only the calculation mistakes done by the previous examiner.
- The rechecking process is applicable for both Class 10th and 12th and can be done for all the subjects.
Example: Suppose a student was expecting 85 in a particular subject and he/she got just 58 marks. Then it might be possible that there is some calculation mistake. Then, in such a situation, a student must apply for rechecking of the answer sheet. During the rechecking process, the marks of the students will be counted from the very first page and very first answer. If there is any mistake done by the examiner while calculating the marks, it will be rectified.
CBSE Revaluation
Revaluation is basically the checking of a particular question in the answer sheet. For this, a student has to go through the 3 processes, i.e. verification of the marks, photocopy of answer sheet and revaluation of answers. All these processes, we have described above in detail.
- CBSE Revaluation was introduced in 2014 and was decided to discontinue in 2017. But now it is again implemented.
- Revaluation is done by another examiner who cannot see the marks given to a particular answer by the previous examiner.
- The Revaluation process checks the evaluation mistakes for each answer and assigns fresh marks.
- The Evaluation process is applicable for both Class 10th and 12th.
